چکیده
The ability to control Poisson's ratio of functional materials has been one the main objectives researchers attempting develop structures efficient from perspective protective, biomedical and soundproofing devices. This task becomes even more challenging at small scales, such as microscale, where possibility mechanical properties is very significant, like in case flexible electronics. In this work, we propose novel microscopic 2D 3D functionally-graded metamaterials capable exhibiting a broad range depending on their composition. More specifically, show that upon adjusting number structural elements corresponding type substructure expense another, it possible change resultant entire system highly positive negative values well achieve arbitrary intermediate values. Finally, addition static properties, also analyze dynamic these structures. Namely, how variation composition considered affects velocity wave propagating through system. This, turn, could be essential applications utilizing localized attenuation or sensors.

Transformable topological mechanical metamaterials
Mechanical metamaterials are engineered materials whose structures give them novel mechanical properties, including negative Poisson's ratios, negative compressibilities and phononic bandgaps. Of particular interest are systems near the point of mechanical instability, which recently have been shown to distribute force and motion in robust ways determined by a nontrivial topological state. Here...
متن کاملProgrammable mechanical metamaterials.
We create mechanical metamaterials whose response to uniaxial compression can be programmed by lateral confinement, allowing monotonic, nonmonotonic, and hysteretic behavior. These functionalities arise from a broken rotational symmetry which causes highly nonlinear coupling of deformations along the two primary axes of these metamaterials. We introduce a soft mechanism model which captures the...
متن کاملHierarchical Auxetic Mechanical Metamaterials
Auxetic mechanical metamaterials are engineered systems that exhibit the unusual macroscopic property of a negative Poisson's ratio due to sub-unit structure rather than chemical composition. Although their unique behaviour makes them superior to conventional materials in many practical applications, they are limited in availability. Here, we propose a new class of hierarchical auxetics based o...
متن کاملUltralight, ultrastiff mechanical metamaterials.
The mechanical properties of ordinary materials degrade substantially with reduced density because their structural elements bend under applied load. We report a class of microarchitected materials that maintain a nearly constant stiffness per unit mass density, even at ultralow density. This performance derives from a network of nearly isotropic microscale unit cells with high structural conne...
متن کاملOrigami based Mechanical Metamaterials
We describe mechanical metamaterials created by folding flat sheets in the tradition of origami, the art of paper folding, and study them in terms of their basic geometric and stiffness properties, as well as load bearing capability. A periodic Miura-ori pattern and a non-periodic Ron Resch pattern were studied. Unexceptional coexistence of positive and negative Poisson's ratio was reported for...
